Julia C. Alter holds an MFA in Poetry from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. Her poetry has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize, and has appeared in The Southern Humanities Review, The Santa Clara Review, The Raleigh Review, Crab Creek Review, CALYX, Sixth Finch, Gigantic Sequins, Palette Poetry, Fugue and numerous other print and online journals, as well as Stained: An Anthology of Writing About Menstruation, forthcoming from Querencia Press in 2023. Her book-length manuscript, Some Dark Familiar, was the First Runner-Up for the 2021 Sundog Book Award, judged by Vievee Francis. She lives in Vermont with her son.
