Julia C. Alter received her MFA in Poetry from the Vermont College of Fine Arts in 2020. Her poetry has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize, and has appeared in The Southern Humanities Review, The Raleigh Review, Crab Creek Review, CALYX, Sixth Finch, Gigantic Sequins, Palette Poetry, The Boiler, and numerous other print and online journals. Her book-length manuscript, Some Dark Familiar, was the first runner-up for the 2021 Sundog Book Award, judged by Vievee Francis. She lives in Vermont with her son.
