Author of Some Dark Familiar, Winner of the 2023 Sundog Poetry Book Award 

Julia C. Alter holds an MFA in Poetry from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. Her poetry has been nominated twice for the Pushcart Prize, and appeared widely in print and online journals including The Southern Humanities Review, The Santa Clara Review, The Raleigh Review, The Oakland Review, Sixth Finch, Palette Poetry and Permafrost, as well as Stained: An Anthology of Writing About Menstruation, and Ecobloomspaces: Poetry at the Intersection of Identity and Place. Her full-length collection, Some Dark Familiar, was selected by Matthew Olzmann as the winner of the 2023 Sundog Poetry Book Award, and will be published in 2024 by Green Writers Press. She lives in Vermont with her son.
